SOCIAL EQUITY AND PROTECTED AREAS

Balancing social equity and biodiversity outcomes in protected area management

Social equity is placed at the centre of conservation strategies by the world's major NGOs, and there have been exciting recent developments in terms of identifying how best to assess and advance equity in relation to protected area management.

 

In protected areas across Brazil, this project aims to explore the relationships between: 1) governance and equity; 2) equity and conflicts; and 3) equity and effectiveness in terms of biodiversity protection.
